Bayside boys provide equipment for St Martins Special School!

Harry Gonzalez, Logan Russell and Michael Mackie and Mrs Palma were recently asked by Bayside’s Head Boy Max Mcgiffen and Jake Moreno, to organise a cake sale to help them raise money for the local charity ‘Saffron Rose Rett’.

Both Max and Jake are planning to swim 12km around the rock on the 30th Of October.

The aim of the swim is to raise £5000 for special equipment, which includes special computers (Tobii Eye Gaze) and software called ‘My World’, that allows children who cannot speak or use their hands to communicate.

Currently there are nine such children with Retts Syndrome who need this special equipment at St Martin’s, and the charity intends to provide one to each.

The Cake Sale was very well supported and a total of £159 was raised in 15 minutes! This will be added to the £1700 already raised by Max and Jake.

Harry, Logan ,Michael and Mrs Palma, through Ice lolly sales have so far, raised the following for this year:

£144 – purchased 9 Sensory Lamps for the bedridden residents of Mount Alvernia.

£100 – Spanish Stray Dogs

£125 – St Bernard’s` Mount Alvernia Wing`s activities fund. This money will be used to arrange various activities for the elderly residents to enjoy.
